Benefits of Weight Loss

Dr. Maryam Jafarieh, DC, wants patients to understand that there is more to weight loss than being skinny. If you are constantly fatigued, feel excessive joint pain, often stressed, and losing a desire for the things you love, it may be time to reflect on your eating habits. Dropping weight doesn’t come easy and requires dedication and commitment, but by eating more nutritious foods will improve your quality of sleep, balance out your hormones, and put you in a better mood overall. Weight loss can improve your mental fitness. This is because exercise releases endorphins, also known as the feel-good chemicals that reduce our perception of pain and deliver a positive feeling. A nutritious diet will also improve your quality of rest and alleviate symptoms of stress and anxiety. If you are struggling with nutrition, don’t be afraid to ask for help. We can help you be the best version of yourself. If you have questions or concerns regarding weight loss advice, please give us a call. To lear...

Overall Wellness

The motions of daily life, if done incorrectly, can result in injury to the spine. According to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), wellness is defined as “an active process that promotes health and enhances the quality of life.” We all stand, sit, lift, sleep, talk on the phone and partake in some sort of physical activity on a daily basis. At Ft. Lauderdale Chiropractic, Dr. Maryam Jafarieh, DC, wants patients to utilize wellness tips so that they can improve their everyday lives. Disconnect for at least two hours – disconnecting from your phone will eliminate anxiety and help regulate sleep patterns. Limit your social media time to be more mindful. Schedule a nap – this may sound impossible, but as long as you can squeeze in a short 30 minutes of shut-eye during your busy day, you will feel rejuvenated and alert. Get a massage – a massage will help relax the muscles, ease joint pain, lower stress, and bring more relaxation to your everyday life. If you have questions or con...

Tips for Good Posture

Maintaining good posture keeps bones and joints in their correct alignment so that the muscles don’t strain or become fixed in an abnormal position. Good posture decreases the stress on the ligaments holding the joints of the spine together and prevents backaches and muscular pain. If you don’t have good posture already, improving it will take some practice. Dr. Maryam Jafarieh, DC, of Ft. Lauderdale Chiropractic, suggests utilizing these tips to achieve good posture. Imagine that a string is attached to the top of your head and pulling you upwards. The idea is to keep your body in perfect alignment, maintaining the spine’s natural curvature, neck straight and shoulders parallel with the hips. To stand correctly, you should always keep your shoulders back and relaxed while pulling in your abdomen and keeping your feet about hip distance apart. Balance your weight evenly on both feet and try not to tilt your head forward, backward or sideways. Finally, you should always keep your legs s...
